Product Description
The Dutch arrived in South Africa in the seventeenth century and brought their own recipes for preparing dried meat from Europe. The preparation entailed strips of meat marinated with vinegar that were left drying with salt and herbs and spices. The need to preserve provisions made this type of food very popular amongst the colonists. Biltong is durable, which allowed the Voortrekkers to travel far with it without needing cooling elements.
